Ferguson: Intro to Songwriting/Composition (18 & older)

In this four session workshop students will learn the elements of composition:rhythm, melody, texture and form. This workshop will explore telling a story through music, emphasizing the vast array of expressive possibilities as well as instrumentation. By session four students will be able to perform at least eight measures of their own original composition for their classmates and instructors. Piano proficiency is NOT required.

This is a four session workshop in which students will learn write and play the major scales of the Circle of Fifths.  This bootcamp serves to strengthen tmusic reading and understanding of the grand staff as it pertains to the piano.
